Question:

Some of the programs installed with ChemDraw Prime 18 cannot be used.

Answer:

With the release of version 18, we no longer have three different installers. There is one unique installer (cos18.exe). The difference on the version (ChemDraw Professional, ChemOffice or ChemDraw Prime) is determined by the activation code.

ChemDraw Prime does not include Chem3D, ChemFinder or ChemScript; so these programs will get installed but will not be activated.

If you don’t want to have the additional applications installed, select Custom on the Setup Type during the installation. Once you click “Install” the second part of the installation wizard will be launched and you need to select “Custom Install” again to mark off the components that you don’t want.

If you want to have access to these applications then you need to purchase a ChemDraw Professional or ChemOffice Professional license.

If you install the software using the MSI installer, the MSIEXEC.EXE command line options can be used to remove the components that you don't want to install:

ADDLOCAL=ALL, REMOVE=ChemDrawForExcel

For example:

msiexec.exe /i "\PerkinElmer\ChemOffice\PerkinElmer_ChemDraw_Professional_17.0.msi" REBOOT=ReallySuppress ADDLOCAL=ALL, REMOVE=ChemDrawForExcel /qb
