Question:

How do I change JVM heap size and parameters for TIBCO Spotfire server?

Answer:

This is the correct procedure to update the JVM heap size or other JVM runtime parameters

Windows

  1. Determine the Tomcat service name for TIBCO Spotfire Server. The easiest way to do this is to run the Windows Services applet and look at the properties of the Spotfire service

So in this example the service name is Tss10104

  2. Start a command line prompt and change to the (INSTALLATION ROOT)\tomcat\bin directory.

    Type in the following command:

So in this example the service name is Tss10104

  3. This will start a system tray icon. Right click on this and select configure.

  4. The JVM heap settings can be altered by changing the initial and maximum memory pool. It's recommended to keep these values the same.

  5. JVM paramters can be added or changed under the Java Options section.

  6. Click OK and restart the Spotfire service for the changes to take effect.

  7. Linux

On Linux systems, the process is much simpler. All JVM heap settings and parameters are kept in the file

    (INSTALLATION ROOT)/tomcat/bin/setenv.sh

This file merely needs to be edited to update the configuration

Restart the service for the change to take effect
